Next meet
The next meeting of London Amateur Brewers will take place on Monday 2nd November at 6.30pm, upstairs at The Wenlock Arms (6 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7TA).
We'll be electing the next chairperson (exciting!) and the talk will be on practical aspects of fermentation by Ant Hayes.
Upcoming Beer Festivals
Festival season once again returns to London-town with the Wandsworth Halloween Beer festival running from the 28th to 30th October: http://wandsworthbeerfestival.eventbrite.com/
Running from today until sometime late November is the Wetherspoons beer festival with 50 ales on offer throughout the time. Make the experience as pleasant as possible by visiting one of their better outlets in the capital - namely the Crosse Keys in the city or the one on the old docks at Canary Wharf.
Finally, one of the highlights of the year is the 'Pigs Ear' festival in Hackney, running from the 1st - 5th December at Ocean, 270 Mare Street, Hackney E8 1HE. Great venue, room to breathe and a great selection of beer. Visit the currently slightly chaotic website here: http://www.pigsear.org.uk/.

February 09 Update
The dramatic weather conditions totally did for the February get-together, and so the next LAB meeting will take place on Monday 2nd March, from 6pm onwards at the Wenlock Arms. All new members welcome.
Pub map update
A few more pubs have been added to the googlemap at the bottom of this page, maybe not places you'd make the effort to get to if you are a visitor to London with only a little time, but for those who are in the area they are definitely worth a visit if you find yourself a little thirsty. The "must visit" pubs are now marked with their own special red marker. Feel free to recommend any others you feel should be added.
Upcoming beer festivals:
We're spoiled for choice in the upcoming weeks with no less than 4 sizeable beer festivals taking place in the capital.
The Yorkshire Beer Festival at the Bricklayer's Arms in Putney runs from Feb 26th to Mar 1st and is always an enjoyable affair, it even includes performances from a troop of Morris Dancers which is an unusual site in amongst the council blocks where the pub nestles.
The following week is the Pembury Tavern Beer Festival in Hackney, running from the 4th to the 8th of March.
Nice and central is the wonderful London Drinker Beer and Cider Festival held in Camden Town Hall (directly opposite St Pancras station), running from the 18th to 20th of March.
At the end of March, from the 26th - 29th is the Wandsworth Common Beer Festival, held in the Great Hall, The Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, London SW18 3SX. A newcomer to the London festival scene, it will be interesting to see what it has to offer.
See you on the 2nd.

December Meeting Roundup
A little late on this one considering it happened exactly 1 month, 1 hour and 19 minutes ago. This time it was the turn of Mike C. (We have a lot of Mikes at LAB. And Tonys. That's just how we roll.) It was another bumper month for style-talk beers, this time a flight of 10 fantastic Belgian Guezes. Along with a photos from several brewery tours Mike took us through the origins, production and blending of these unique beers in what was a very interesting and informative session.

The next meeting is tonight, Jan 5th where we will be learning to identify taste flaws caused by wild yeasts, and a guide to Mike E's marvelous brewery.

The big map of London Amateur Brewers' favourite London pubs
Here is a selection of the pubs to be found in central London which, in our collective opinion, are the best for beer in the capital.
Those marked with a red arrow = 'must-visits',
blue markers = worth seeking out but especially so if you are in the vicinity.
